Miami-Dade Police are hoping you can help them solve crimes.
Miami-Dade launched a new text message and e-mail alert program Wednesday in honor of a young girl who was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver. On Jan. 8, 11-year-old Ashley Valdes was struck by a truck moments after getting off a school bus on Southwest 80th Street.
8 days later police arrested suspect Harvey Abraham.
You can sign up for the Ashley Nicole Valdes Public Safety Alerts by going to www.miamidade.gov/oem .
People who sign up will get alerts when Miami-Dade law enforcement needs the public's help.
