Police said that they have arrested a suspect in connection with the hit-and-run death of an 11-year-old girl.
Police said that on Jan. 8, Ashley Valdez, a student at Howard Doolin Middle School, got off her school bus at about 6:35 p.m. As she crossed Southwest 80th Street at 149th Avenue, police said, a light-colored pickup truck hit and killed her, and the driver drove away.
For more than a week, investigators have searched for the driver of the truck, which was described as a silver or white Ford F-150 with tinted windows and front-end damage.
Harvey Carlos Abraham, 33, was arrested Friday morning in connection with the hit-and-run. Police took him into custody after a witness called to report a suspicious vehicle, Local 10's Rob Schmitt reported. It is unclear whether the vehicle in Friday morning's incident was the Ford pickup truck that police sought.
Abraham has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident, driving carelessly and tampering with evidence.
