Tamika Bickham feels right at home returning to WPLG and South Florida.
She re-joined the Local 10 news team in October of 2012 as a general assignment reporter.
Prior to that, she spent two years reporting for WAKA in Montgomery, Alabama where she extensively covered state politics. While living in the state known for powerhouse college football teams, she also spent much of her time learning the ins and outs of Alabama and Auburn football.
What stands out the most during her two years in Montgomery, was covering the destruction caused by the deadly tornado outbreak in April 2011. The strength and courage of those who survived such devastation left a lasting impression on her.
Tamika is a proud graduate of the University of Miami (Go Canes!) where she majored in broadcast journalism and theater arts. During her time at The U, she interned at CNN in Los Angeles and WPLG, making her return feel somewhat like a homecoming.
She is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and enjoys mentoring aspiring journalists.
She lives in Brickell and spends her free time hanging out there with friends and cheering on the Canes. Her hobbies include writing, working out, going to the beach, and traveling. She's road tripped from coast to coast and traveled across Europe.
Tamika is looking forward to making more memories here in South Florida. So if you have any suggestions for a new hangout or restaurant, want to say hi, or have a story idea please contact her at email@example.com.
