Freedland added $80,000 is the most raised by the events in any given year.

Golfers hit the Weston Hills Country Club Monday, ate a full lunch buffet, and won travel packages, golf tournaments, spa packages, sports memorabilia, and gift certificates.

Awards were given to the winners of the overall tournament as well as to those who won closest to the pin and longest drive on each course.

"Awarding scholarships to area students fits perfectly into the Rotary Club of Weston's mission to provide services to youth and families in our community," said Mary Beth Casey, who chaired the tournament along with Freedland and Keith Petron. "We look forward to this every year because it helps so many people."

The Rotary Club of Weston usually awards between $50,000 and $60,000 in scholarships per year.
