Lincoln applies new design language to SUV

Lincoln used the 2013 North American International Auto Show Monday to present its take on a compact SUV.
The new MKC Concept shares a lot of design cues with the recently released MKZ sedan, like the horizontal grille that’s said to resemble a pair of wings, and the thin horizontal tail lights that span the width of the back of the car.
As a concept, the MKC has some touches that are not likely to make it to a production model, like an all-glass roof and 20-inch wheels.
“The Lincoln MKC Concept is designed to strike a perfect balance between warm, inviting comfort and the engaging and superb dynamic qualities of performance, ride, handling and braking,” said Jim Farley, executive vice president of Global Marketing, Sales and Service and Lincoln. “This balance is focused toward a new luxury automotive client emerging in the marketplace – someone who recognizes a great vehicle and demands a balance between all-out performance and comfort.”
Lincoln hasn’t officially announced plans to mass-produce the MKC, but don’t be surprised if something very similar shows up as a 2014 model.
