Monday, October 14 marks the ten-year anniversary of one of the biggest moments in Marlins history.
And one of the worst moments in the entire history of the city of Chicago.

October 14, 2003 was when Steve Bartman went from being a Chicago Cubs fan... to a Chicago Cubs villain.
It was Game 6 of the National League Championship Series between the then Florida Marlins and the Cubs. Chicago, just five outs from heading to the World Series for the first time in 58 years, held a 3-games-to-2 series lead and a 3-0 lead in the 8th inning of the game.
With one out in the inning and a man on second, Marlins second baseman Luis Castillo hit a high fly ball to left field. As Cubs leftfielder Moises Alou wandered over to foul territory to catch what would have been the second out, Bartman is seen reaching from his seat in the stands in an attempt to grab the foul ball, in the process deflecting it from Alou.
With new life at the plate, Castillo drew a walk and the Marlins went on to score eight runs in the inning, winning the game 8-3 and eventually winning the series 4-games-to-3.
Anger amongst Cubs fans was immediate and Bartman was escorted from Wrigley Field by security.
Since the incident, Bartman has remained in hiding, never making public appearances and declining all interview requests.
The Cubs have still failed to make it to another World Series.
