Desiree Hartsock is new star of "The Bachelorette"

'Bachelor' Lowe's final four contestant will make another attempt at tv romance

Desiree Hartsock is the new star of ABC's "The Bachelorette."

She may have been turned down by "The Bachelor" Sean Lowe, but Desiree Hartsock has bigger fish to fry now as the new star of ABC's "The Bachelorette."

Hartsock, a bridal stylist from Northglenn, Colo., was sent home in the eighth week of "The Bachelor" after making it into the final four.  The meeting with Lowe and her family didn't go very well after Hartsock's brother accused Lowe of being a playboy.

The announcement was made Monday night during "The Bachelor: After the Final Rose" which followed "The Bachelor" finale with Lowe proposing to Catherine Giudici.

"I know that it can happen and one of them will be hopefully my true love, as cliché as it sounds," Hartsock told the audience.

Twenty-five men will compete for her hand when the new season of "The Bachelorette" debuts May 20.
