Krispy Kreme introduces fair-inspired doughnuts

County fairs may be best known for their large assortment of rides and attractions, but Krispy Kreme wants us all to remember that the best part of any fair experience is the food, and it has a new line of doughnuts to prove it.
The popular doughnut chain announced this week that its participating U.S. and Canada locations are releasing two new fair-inspired flavors for a limited time: Cotton Candy and Caramel Apple Cake.
According the company, the Cotton Candy doughnut is an original glazed doughnut that is dipped in blue cotton candy sugar, and the Caramel Apple doughnut features an apple-flavored cake doughnut topped with caramel icing.
Krispy Kreme said its new menu items will run from Aug. 30 through Sept. 30, and also include two drinks: the Cotton Candy Chiller and the Caramel Latte.
The Cotton Candy Chiller is a frozen drink featuring hints of raspberry and blueberry flavors, while the Caramel Latte is espresso topped with whipped cream and caramel drizzle, and can be served on ice or hot.
BrandEating.com reported that Krispy Kreme's Caramel Apple Cake doughnut will also be sold at participating grocery and convenience stores. But there is still no word on whether any deep-fried varieties are on the menu horizon.
Lovers of the starchy fried goodness of twice-dipped Twinkies and Oreos will just have to wait and see.
