'Best of the Best' concert held for Urban Beach Weekend

172 arrests through Sunday

MIAMI – Urban Beach Weekend's signature event kicked off in Downtown Miami on Sunday afternoon.

Thousands came out to Bayfront Park despite the threat of rain to see the Best of the Best concert.

This year's concert, featuring 35 artists from Japan, France, the Caribbean, and Africa, was headlined by Fat Joe, Shaggy, and Brianna.

Promoters call the concert North America's largest reggae, hip-hop, and soca music festival.

Michelle Reid and her girlfriend traveled to Miami from London for the concert.

The concert ran for nearly 10 hours straight.

On South Beach, celebrations for Urban Beach Weekend continued.

Despite questions surrounding increased police patrols, there had been 172 arrests through Sunday, down from 184 at the same point last year.

Miami Beach police also said they seized 25 firearms, including a shotgun.

Police also ran 4,000 license plates of vehicles driving into South Beach, leading to 88 criminal citations, mostly for driving without a valid license or for having a suspended license.
