MIAMI, Fla. -

An American Airlines airplane that was headed to Los Angeles was forced to return to Miami International Airport Sunday night.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue described it as a "hazardous situation."

American Airlines officials said the plane could not acquire the right cabin pressure after takeoff.

MIA officials said 136 passengers were onboard.

The plane landed safely, and the situation was resolved.

Passengers changed airplanes and after a 40-minute wait were on their way to Los Angeles.
