Police: Gunman used high-powered rifle

MIAMI – Miami-Dade police are searching for the gunman who shot another a man with a high-powered rifle.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting at Northwest 29th Avenue and 62nd Street about 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

"I was walking down 62nd (Street) and I heard shots, which were automatic weapons, and I automatically laid down on the ground because they were shooting something high powered," said Regina Johnson. "I walked down -- the guy, he was laying on the ground. He had a whole in his leg this big and whatever hit him snapped his leg in half."

The shooting victim was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital in serious condition.

Investigators believe the gunman and the victim may know each other.

Police detained one man following the shooting.
