Miami-Dade homicide detectives are investigating a police-involved shooting that happened along SW 162nd Avenue and 77th Street, Wednesday morning.
Investigators say officers were dispatched to the scene where a suspicious man was seen looking into the window of a car.
The man was later identified as 44-year-old Juan Luis Rodriguez.
When officers arrived they questioned the man, who they say gave them false information.
Police say a fight ensued when officers attempted to handcuff the man. They say the man then entered a police cruiser and tried to use it to flee from police and run the officers over.
One officer fired his gun and killed Rodriguez.
According to authorities, Rodriguez had a lengthy criminal record.
