The crash happened at 440 NW 6th Street about 12:52 p.m. Tuesday. A Lexus sports-utility vehicle hit and broke a water main of the office building for the International Longshoremen's Association.
The leaking pipe created a sink hole and sent sand spilling into the roadway.
Two women, one in each vehicle, were taken to Broward Health with non-life threatening injuries. Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue reported no other injuries.
It took crews about 30 minutes to repair the leak. All lanes of the roadway have since reopened.
