2 elderly victims rescued from apartment fire in Fort Lauderdale

Teen transported to hospital with minor injuries

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Officials say two elderly victims who were trapped on the second story of an apartment building had to be rescued Sunday after a fire broke out.

When fire crews arrived to 1115 Southwest 15th Terrace the building had heavy smoke and fire on the first floor, trapping the two on the second floor.

Firefighters rescued the two and carried them down to safety before extinguishing the fire.

A 17-year-old was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Three adults and five children are in the care of the American Red Cross due to being displaced by the fire.

The fire is under investigation.
