Police looking for 2 men involved in robbery in Miami

MIAMI – Two men impersonating police officers robbed a taxi cab driver and his two foreign passengers on Tuesday evening.

The taxi cab driver stopped behind a silver Toyota at a traffic light at Northwest 37th Avenue and 14th Street about 5:15 p.m., police said. The taxi cab driver then honked his horn so that the driver of the Toyota would make a right-hand turn.

According to police, two black men exited the Toyota, approached the taxi cab, and identified themselves as police officers. 

The men then ordered the taxi cab driver and the two Swedish passengers to exit their vehicle and told them that they were searching it for drugs. Police said that the taxi cab driver and the two passengers were patted down and had their luggage searched. 

The two men told the taxi cab driver and passengers to get back into their vehicle. The men then drove away, heading northbound on Northwest 37th Avenue, with all of the victims' belongings, including two cell phones and two wallets with credit cards and IDs.

The men are described as being in their 30s and 5 feet 10 inches tall. One was last seen wearing a red shirt, black and red shorts, had a scar on his left forearm, black hair, and was unshaven with gold top and bottom teeth. The other was last seen wearing black jeans and a white shirt.
