Man in custody after 2 women shot in Miami Lakes

Victims expected to survive injuries

MIAMI LAKES, Fla. – A man has been arrested after two women were shot in Miami Lakes.

The shooting was reported early Tuesday morning on Northwest 79th Court and 150th Street.

Andrew Seabrooks, 26, was taken into custody shortly after.

Miami-Dade police said the women, ages 21 and 54, were carpooling to work. Police said a Ford Mustang pulled up alongside the women as they were getting out of the car in the parking lot and the driver opened fired.

The 21-year-old woman was shot multiple times and the 54-year-old woman was shot once.

"I was parking in my parking spot. He was driving around, (and) looked like he was lost, so my co-worker was standing there and he just pulled out the gun and started shooting," Veronica Moss, who was shot in the knee, told Local 10 News. "He shot her, started to leave, backed up and shot me."

Moss said she doesn't know Seabrooks and doesn't believe that her co-worker does either.

Police took Seabrook into custody after a short police pursuit. They said Seabrook lost control of his car and crashed into a tree.

Police did not release the extent of the victims' injuries, but confirmed that neither were considered life-threatening.

Seabrooks has previously been arrested on trespassing and theft charges.

No other details were immediately released.
