Firefighters called to a home in Lauderhill find four dogs running around when they make their way inside.

LAUDERHILL, Fla. -

Firefighters called to a home Tuesday morning found four dogs running around as they made their way inside.

Firefighters were called to 3571 NW 9th Ct. about 9:20 a.m.

"Upon making entry of this structure, crews were encountered with three pit bulls and one Chihuahua that was loose in the structure," said Capt. Jerry Gonzalez. "As you imagine, they have this heavy smoke that's coming down -- all the way down to the ground -- inside the structure and you have dogs running around, pit bulls, scared more than anything, and they're barking at you."

The four dogs were safely rescued.

It's unclear what caused the fire.
