FHP: Truck loses control after 2 vehicles sideswipe each other

Four people were taken to the hospital Friday after a crash along the southbound Turnpike extension (SR 821) west of Red Road, troopers said.

A 2005 Jaguar and a 2013 Ford F-150 pulling a boat trailer were both southbound on the Turnpike.

The vehicles sideswiped each other, causing the 55-year-old driver of the F-150 to lose control, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The F-150 veered to the left and struck the guardrail and overturned over it, causing the trailer to jackknife and the boat to separate from the trailer.

Allmore Plummer and Tisha-Ann Plummer of Pembroke Pines, who were inside the Jaguar, were taken to Memorial West. Troopers said Terry Wesley Clifton and William J. Clifton of Jacksonville, who were inside the F-150, were taken to Memorial East.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Troopers said charges are pending.
