BAL HARBOUR, Fla. – The Bal Harbour police chief was fired Friday.
Thomas Hunker served as police chief since April 2003. Before that, he worked at the Miami Beach Police Department for 28 years.

In Nov. 2012, the U.S. Department of Justice announced it was auditing millions of dollars in forfeiture funds seized by the Bal Harbour Police Department. It's unclear if findings from the department's audit are related to Hunker's dismissal.
