Singer atones for lip-synching at Inauguration

NEW ORLEANS – Looking to put her inauguration lip-synching controversy behind her, mega-star Beyonce performed a live version of the national anthem Thursday at a Super Bowl press conference.

After being introduced to a crowded room of reporters in New Orleans, Beyonce asked those in attendance to rise as she sang the Star-Spangled Banner without accompaniment.

The singer was making her first public appearance since she performed at President Obama's second inauguration earlier this month. It was revealed after the ceremony that Beyonce had taped her performance and was not singling live.

Beyonce said she chose to lip-synch the song at the inauguration ceremonies because she didn't have time to rehearse with the orchestra. The platinum-selling artist said she will definitely be singing live when she performs during the Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday,
