Neighbors told Local 10 that one of three pit bulls got loose from a yard in the neighborhood.

The dog was scaring people in the neighborhood, first chasing a woman from a bus stop, running after a man on a bicycle and following another person through a field.

BSO said a deputy arrived, and the dog "aggressively went after" the deputy, who shot and killed it at Northwest 16th Terrace and 27th Avenue.

No people were injured.

The dog's owner is being charged with having a dog running at large, will receive a notice to appear in court and will be fined by Animal Control, BSO said.

Neighbors said it was not the first time the pit bull has terrorized pedestrians in the area.
