The Florida Department of Health confirmed Thursday a 41-year-old woman from Broward County contracted measles while traveling outside the country.
The health department said the woman was doing well.
The department notified facilities she may have visited, people who may have been exposed, and health care providers in the county.
Symptoms of measles include:
- Blotchy rash
- Runny nose
- Red, watery eyes (conjunctivitis)
- Feeling run down, achy (malaise)
- Tiny white spots with bluish-white centers found inside the mouth (Koplik’s spots)
Measles is very rare where vaccination coverage is high, like within the U.S., according to the department.
