Brush fire under control in Southwest Miami-Dade

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue says total of 21 units responded to area

MIAMI – Miami-Dade Fire Rescue says a brush fire that began burning early Sunday afternoon is now under control and out.

The fire was burning in Southwest Miami-Dade, near SW 224th St. and SW 115th Ave, according to authorities. A total of 21 fire units responded to the area and kept flames from spreading.

Officials said no homes in the area were in danger of the fire. There is a church nearby, but it was protected from the flames.

SW 112th Avenue and SW 224th Street have been reopened. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said crews will continue to stay at the scene throughout the night.
