Car crashes towards home, injures teen in SW Miami-Dade

Witnesses say traffic light was out at corner

GOULDS, Fla. – A man was hospitalized and a child injured in a car crash in southwest Miami-Dade County Sunday.

"They were stopped, it was his turn to go and he started to go, but she didn't see the light and she hit him," said Ron Houghton, a witness.

Witnesses said the traffic light was out on the corner of SW 112th Ave and Old Cutler Road when the two were hit. The impact caused the van to go towards a house nearby and towards a teenager.

"It hit him a little bit, it didn't crush or smash him, it just tapped him. I guess he ran out of the way," said a witness Catherine Addison.

Police and paramedics arrived quickly to bandage up the teen and place the other driver on a stretcher. Officials said a cop also took control of the intersection to make sure no one else got hurt.
