Congressman-elect Joe Garcia to be sworn-in by House Speaker John Boehner

Official swearing-in ceremony to take place Thursday at 5:00 p.m.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. House Speaker John Boehner will swear-in Congressman-elect Joe Garcia on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. in Washington, D.C.

The Office of Congressman-elect Joe Garcia said this is the official swearing-in ceremony for the congressman-elect and is separate from those that will be held in South Florida on Sunday (Key West) and Monday (Kendall) next week.

Democrat Joe Garcia defeated Republican Congressman David Rivera with 54 percent of the vote in District 26. Garcia had also run against Rivera in 2010.

Garcia will represent the Florida Keys and mostly suburban and rural parts of Miami-Dade and Collier counties.
