Cops: Hialeah officer shoots man after stopping his car

Investigators say a uniformed officer shot a man at the intersection West 21st Street and 4th Avenue following a traffic stop.

MIAMI -

Investigators say a uniformed officer shot a man at the intersection West 21st Street and 4th Avenue following a traffic stop.

The officer, a veteran of the Hialeah Police department, got out of his car shortly after 6:30 pm Friday and approached the driver of a red Audi. Investigators said moments later, the officer pulled his weapon and fired a single shot.

The driver of the Audi was transported to an area hospital in stable condition. Police have not released the reason for the traffic stop nor the circumstances leading up to the shooting. It was not immediately known if the driver of the Audi was armed.

The Audi was towed away from the scene around 10pm. An investigation has begun.
