Three armed robbery suspects were taken into police custody on Tuesday after a standoff, authorities say.
The incident started before 4 p.m. while three people were riding inside a car. The group was robbed at gunpoint at the intersection of NW 7th Court and 56 Street, police said.
According to investigators, the victims were approached by three armed men at the street corner. Police said the trio demanded money and ordered them out of their car.
The group stole several items and fled on foot, police said.
Minutes later, officers spotted subjects fitting the description in the area and detained two of the three. One subject got away and barricaded himself inside an apartment located at 731 NW 56 Street, police said.
At the time, the subject was believed to have been armed. SWAT, Hostage Negotiators and K-9 units were all called to assist.
After a brief standoff, all occupants inside the apartment came out, police said.
Detectives said they were speaking with all suspects while investigating the case.
The names of the suspects have not yet been released.
