HILLSBORO BEACH, Fla. – A school of sharks was spotted off Hillsboro Beach Tuesday afternoon as an unsuspecting couple on a kayak paddled over them.
The school was seen north of the lighthouse.
Deerfield Beach city officials said the Broward Sheriff's Office was checking on the beaches. Lifeguards were on high alert.
"Sharks? Are you kidding me?" asked Rosela Mihai.
"I was wondering -- something happened," said Michael Mihai.
"We kind of figured but we're close enough to shore that it's not a big deal," said Erin Goldfeder.
Two paddle boarders were seen near the sharks, seemingly unaware the school was there.
The school wasn't too far from where another school of sharks was seen last week.
