Deputies in Fort Lauderdale have arrested a man accused of brutally stabbing and imprisoning a man.
According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, Lorenzo Jones, 26, was inside an apartment at 830 Northwest Street when a man stopped by to see a friend on Jan. 12th.
Investigators said Jones invited the man in to wait for his friend. A short time later, the victim went to leave. That's when authorities said Jones became paranoid. Jones grabbed a 12 inch knife and told the victim to sit down. Deputies said a struggle ensued, at which time Jones stabbed the victim's hands several times and his back twice. Next, Jones grabbed a vodka bottle and forced the victim into the bathroom, where he was instructed to take off his clothes and get in the bathtub, deputies said.
According to authorities, Jones barricaded the apartment and sat outside the bathroom as the victim bled in the tub. Jones threatened to kill the victim with the knife when he attempted to escape numerous times, investigators said.
Detectives said Jones eventually left the apartment and the victim ran next door to a neighbor, who called 911.
The victim was transported to Broward General Hospital, where he underwent surgery.
On January 15th, three days after the stabbing, the neighbor saw Jones return to the apartment. Deputies were called and arrested Jones at the scene of the crime, authorities said.
The victim was able to identify the suspect in a photo lineup at the hospital, authorities said. According to deputies, Jones admitted to the stabbing.
Jones has been charged with attempted felony murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, armed false imprisonment, and aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony. He is being held on no bond.
