Deputies: Mom drove drunk with infant in car
A 26-year-old woman was arrested in Volusia County on suspicion of driving drunk while her infant was in the back seat of the car.
Jennifer Gotchal was arrested early Tuesday in DeBary on charges of child neglect without great harm and DUI.
According to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, a deputy spotted Gotchal driving erratically on Beall Boulevard in DeBary.
The deputy pulled the car over and noticed a 4-month-old baby in a car seat, the Sheriff's Office said.
The deputy said he could smell alcohol on Gotchal, who failed three field sobriety tests, according to a sheriff's report.
Gotchal was arrested and taken to jail and refused to submit to a breath test, deputies said.
The infant was placed in the care of his grandparents, the sheriff's report said.
