Firefighters battle house fire in Pembroke Falls area

Pembroke Pines Fire Department says fire may be due to electrical problem

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – The Pembroke Pines Fire Department says a fire broke out Wednesday afternoon at a house in the Pembroke Falls community in Pembroke Pines.

Firefighters arrived just after 3 p.m. to find theavy smoke and flames coming from the roof of the home.

Two people who were inside the home when the fire began got out of the house and called 911.

Light smoke was reported on the first floor of the house with heavy smoke and flames in the attic.  Firefighters said the American Red Cross was also contacted.

The couple that owns the house, along with their two children, will be displaced from their home..

Firefighters said the fire appears to have started in the attic of the home and may have been an electrical problem. The exact cause is still under investigation.
