Students at Doral Academy are inviting the public to an event to raise money for the search party looking for Christian Aguilar, the UF student who has been missing since September 20.
Gainesville police charged Pedro Bravo, Aguilar's friend and former Doral Academy classmate, with murdering Aguilar, but his body has not yet been found.
Organizers with the Christian Aguilar Foundation said the two-part event will take place at J.C. Bermudez Park in Doral on Saturday, Oct. 13.
The benefit will start with a walking marathon at 6 p.m. A candlelight prayer is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
The entrance fee is $5. Donations will be collected and food and drinks will be sold throughout the event.
Organizers said the search party needs batteries, flashlights, plastic boots, mosquito repellent and machetes, all of which will be accepted as donations at the fundraiser.
Shirts will be sold for $10 and bracelets will be sold for $5.
Students said they are asking participants to wear white t-shirts.
