FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -

A Broward County grand jury indicted a man who is accused of killing his wife on a premeditated first-degree murder charge.

Cid Torrez, the estranged husband of Vilet Torrez, was arrested on Nov. 21.

On Thursday, prosecutors, detectives, and witnesses filed into court to provide testimony to the grand jury. The decision to indict was made about 6:40 p.m.

"I'm ecstatic we're because I was starting to lose hope that maybe we might never know, but no," said Clarissa Garcia, a friend of Vilet Torrez.

Vilet Torrez was last seen on surveillance video pulling into her gated community in Miramar in March. But her husband said she never made it into the house.

Cid Torrez has been considered a person of interest since his wife disappeared.

"They had a very volatile relationship and I think, unfortunately, we're seeing the consequences of that," said Garcia.

Police haven't revealed what evidence was used to file the murder charge against Torrez.
