WASHINGTON – The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill Thursday to rename the Department of Veterans Affairs health clinic in the city of Sunrise, Fla. as the "William 'Bill' Kling VA Clinic."
Located at 9800 West Commercial Boulevard, the clinic will be renamed after the veterans' advocate, who passed away on Aug. 6 at the age of 84.

U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who introduced the bill along with U.S. Rep Ted Deutch, said Kling was a tireless advocate for veterans who noticed that too often veterans in Broward County had to travel too far to visit a VA facility to receive the care they needed. With that in mind, Kling helped open the Oakland Park VA outpatient Clinic more than twenty years ago.
To honor his memory, Schultz and Deutch introduced H.R. 6443 to rename the Broward County VA Outpatient Clinic after Kling.
"Bill Kling worked tirelessly to make sure our veterans were getting the benefits they deserved, from education under the GI bill to quality health care through our VA system," said Schultz.
Schultz said this is the seventh piece of legislation he has passed through the House this Congress.
