A South Florida man faces a possible life sentence for killing a woman while fleeing the scene of a violent robbery.
A Miami-Dade jury convicted 25-year-old Charlie Thomas of first-degree murder Thursday.
The Miami Herald reports that a judge will sentence him later this year.
Police say Thomas, Nathaniel Roberson, Corey Edwards and two others robbed a man of his gold chain behind a Liberty City home in September 2004.
Witnesses say Edwards and Roberson shot Etiquio Napoles several times, but he survived.
As the robbers were running away, prosecutors say Thomas, who was 17 at the time, shot Blanca Colon as he ran past her home.
Thomas, Roberson and Edwards were arrest shortly after the robbery.
Defense attorneys argued that a confession Thomas gave was coerced.
