A Pennsylvania man is facing charges after shooting himself in the hand in an attempt to get his wedding ring off during an argument with his wife.
Police headed to the Bradford, Penn., home Alfredo Malespini III after receiving a call just before 9 p.m. March 2 reporting he had intentionally shot himself in the hand, according to The Bradford Era.
Malespini told police he was "trying to get rid of his wedding ring," so he thought he would "shoot it off," according to The Associated Press.
Officers said Malespini appeared to be intoxicated. While his finger was badly injured, the wedding ring was still on his finger, according to the AP.
Malespini was charged with recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct and firing a weapon in the Bradford city limits, according to The Bradford Era. Malespini works as a lieutenant at the Federal Correctional Institution-McKean.
