Miami Art Museum receives $1 million grant

New art goes on display Feb. 17

MIAMI – The Miami Art Museum has received a $1 million grant from the Helena Rubinstein Philanthropic Fund.

The matching gift grant will go towards the purchase of contemporary art.

"This installation provides another perspective on the museum's continued growth into a civic asset for future generations of South Florida residents and visitors," said MAM Director Thom Collins.

The museum will receive $250,000 payments in installments, pending matching gifts.

Starting Feb. 17, the Miami Art Museum will unveil some of the art in the exhibition, "Restless: Recent Acquisitions from the MAM Collection." The exhibition includes works by Morris Louis and Fred Wilson, as well as Nicolas Lobo, George Sánchez-Calderón and Lynette Yiadom-Boakye.

The Miami Art Museum is located at 101 W. Flagler St.

The museum is open 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Tuesday through Fridayand noon - 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Admission is $8 for adults and $4 for seniors, and children under 12 get in free.
