The Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce held a forum to discuss gambling Tuesday night as a famed Las Vegas developer hopes to build a mega-casino there.
Protesters made it clear that many residents were against the idea.
"No casinos!" they chanted.
One protester said he was afraid of becoming another Atlantic City.
The meeting was held at the convention center, where Steve Wynn has expressed interest in investing billions of dollars to refurbish the building and attach a mega-casino.
The potential investment comes to light as investors work to build a mega-casino in Downtown Miami.
Politicians told the crowd casinos would bring jobs and money to the area, and that they would be subject to public imposed restrictions.
But many in the crowd seemed unmoved and unwilling to bet on a plan that would bring gambling to the beach.
