EVERGLADES, Fla. – The Python Challenge is aiming to rid of invasive Burmese pythons from the Everglades and a Miami-Dade commissioner did his part.

County Commissioner José ‘Pepe' Diaz sent us a photo of himself holding the long python along with Florida Fish and Wildlife Commissioner Ron Bergeron and state Rep. Frank Artiles.

According to the python challenges' website, so far, 21 Burmese pythons were received by the University of Florida on Friday.

There, the pythons are being processed and logged.

The python challenge ends February 10th.
