Mother arrested after her child found wandering

A South Florida woman was arrested after her son was found wandering in the streets of Miami, police said.
Detectives said someone called police to say they saw the child wandering near Southwest 14th Ave. and 1st St. about 4 a.m.
When police interviewed the child, he said he had woke up in the middle of the night to find his mom not at home.
The child saw the front door was locked, so he used a wooden duck to break a window and escape from him home.
He suffered cuts on his hands when leaving the home.
Detectives were able to reach the boy's mother, Rosa Carolina Recarte Gomez, on her cell phone.
During questioning, Gomez reportedly admitted she was at a friend's home. She told detectives that she left the child home alone sleeping because he usually sleeps through the night.
Gomez, 30, was arrested and charged with child neglect.
Police contacted the Department of Children and Families.
