A motorcyclist died Tuesday after he struck a tree and was ejected onto the roadway, police say.
Authorities said the victim has been identified as Eric Burnett Freeman.
Investigators said Freeman had been riding his 2005 Suzuki Hayabusa motorcycle eastbound on NW 33 Street headed toward Inverrary Boulevard West. At some point, Freeman lost control of the motorcycle and struck a tree, ejecting him onto the roadway, police said.
The investigation is continuing to determine whether Freeman was wearing his helmet, which was found at the scene. Authorities said they're also trying to determine how fast he was traveling and whether there were any other contributing factors.
This appears to be a single vehicle crash, as there is no information that any other vehicle was involved, investigators said.
Freeman's family members have been notified.
Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact the Lauderhill Police Department's Traffic Homicide Unit at 954-497-4700.
