Nearly 200 Chihuahuas were rescued from a Pennsylvania home in what authorities called a case of animal hoarding.

Dog wardens cooperating with state police executed a search warrant Thursday at the home in Benton after receiving numerous tips, The Associated Press reported.

Many of the animals were sick and authorities said they found numerous dead dogs in the home, which had unsanitary conditions.

State police expected to file animal cruelty charges against the owners, Harrisburg TV station WHP reported.

Mike Pechart, who oversees dog law enforcement activities at the Agriculture Department, called it "an unfortunate situation of animal hoarding."
