Darren Bonilla and Rey Bonilla were at home with their mother Tuesday night, a day after they were reported missing.

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. -

No charges were filed after police say a woman took two brothers from their home without their mother's permission.

A Missing Child Alert was issued Monday for Darren Bonilla, 5, and Rey Bonilla, 3. It was then canceled Tuesday.

"I thank God my kids were home safe in one piece," said Charmen Bonilla, the boys' mother.

"We're very happy that the kids are safe. We're proud of the work we've done, but I would say that it's also bizarre," said Major Neal Cuevas with the North Miami Police.

Police haven't revealed what was said in the interviews.

On Monday, North Miami Police said an acquaintance of Bonilla, identified as "Gloria," took Bonilla's sons without her permission while she was running errands.

"She thought that was the right thing she was doing. That's what she says," said Bonilla.

Police later found the boys with Gloria at Interstate 95 and Opa-locka Boulevard about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

"(She) treated them well, well dressed, they were fed. The kids were in good condition, you know, they were not found dirty or nothing, very clean," said Bonilla.

After finding the children, police interviewed Bonilla, the boys, and Gloria. All four were later released.

Gloria is not facing charges. The investigation is ongoing.

"I don't like to do harm to anybody. My kids are back safe in one piece and that's all I'm grateful for," said Bonilla.

Bonilla said she wants Gloria to stay away from her children.

The Department of Children and Families and the Florida Dept. of Law Enforcement were involved in the investigation.
