Police have arrested and charged four people who allegedly stole air conditioner parts from the alley behind the Nova Southeastern University campus in North Miami Beach.
Police said they received a tip from someone who claimed to have seen the thieves stealing the parts around 3:30 a.m. on Dec. 27. Officers approached the area where the four were observed running from the scene.
Three of the suspects had fled the area into the residential neighborhood nearby. Police said the fourth suspect jumped into a getaway car and fled the scene.
With the help of K-9 dogs, police said they were able to catch the three suspects at the rear of a house located at 17901 NE 169th Street. The fourth suspect was also apprehended a short distance away after fleeing the scene.
Police arrested Henry Box, 29 of Miami Shores, Manaelle Box, 32 of Miami Shores, Ashely Norris, 19 of Miami Shores and Roberson Cadet, 18, whose address is unknown. They were arrested and charged with Burglary and Resisting Arrest without Violence.
Detectives believe the group has also committed other crimes involving air conditioning thefts, based on the evidence found at the scene.
Police said they recovered two vehicles that had numerous parts from other air conditioning systems not taken from NSU.
The investigation continues.
