In a time when the public has little faith in government and a distrust of leaders, the Miami-Dade Police Department has Director James Loftus in 2011, showing strength during tragedy.
Loftus had just the right words when two of his officers died in the line of duty. He is a straight-shooter, a man who tells it like it is and a man who doesn't run from controversy.
