Members of the Occupy Miami movement and other groups marched for change Thursday afternoon.
Occupy Miami, One Miami and labor unions were among the groups represented by the sign-carrying protesters marching in a group of about 200 toward Brickell Park.
The group supports other Occupy movements across the U.S., which are pushing to close the gap between the rich and the poor. The march was held after a 4:30 p.m. rally, during rush hour, in the hope that more people would receive the protesters' message
"We want to tell the media. We want to tell our elected officials that the majority has had enough, that we need a government that's going to start working for us, that's going to invest in the people instead of big businesses and corporations," said protester Jose Suarez.
"Now is the time that we should stop saying, 'Nothing's going to change,' and we have to be the change that we actually want to see," said another protester.
Another rally was planned at Brickell Park when the protesters arrived.
