According to the arrest affidavit, as deputies tried to handcuff Callins, he ran out of the courtroom. Another deputy tried to stop him in the hallway, and Callins took a swing at him and missed, police said.

The deputy punched Callins in the face, and a group of deputies took him into custody, according to the affidavit. Police said Callins kept resisting and "had to be physically subdued."

The affidavit said that as Hollywood Fire Rescue paramedics were treating Callins at the courthouse, he started threatening to kill a deputy and making references to BSO Deputy Chris Reyka, who was killed in the line of duty in 2007.

Once Callins was medically cleared, he was taken to a jail cell at the South Regional Courthouse, which he attempted to flood so he could slip out of the restraints, according to the affidavit.

In addition to the cannabis possession charge, Callins now faces charges of attempted escape, battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting with violence and corruption by threat.
