Polls open for day five of early voting

Polls open for day five of early voting at 7 a.m. on Wednesday morning. With only six days left until election day, more than 216,000 people have voted in Miami-Dade and Broward counties since early voting locations opened Saturday morning.

Tuesday was the busiest day at the polls so far, with Miami-Dade and Broward counties reporting a combined turn out of 56,525 voters. Election officials say that's 200 more than the number that cast ballots on Monday.

Early Voting Locations:Miami-Dade County | Broward County

In Miami-Dade County, 104,200 voters have come to the polls since they opened early Saturday morning. Each day, North Dade Regional Library has been the most popular of the county's 20 locations, with over 7,000 people opting to vote there in the first four days.

Another 112,208 voters have headed to Broward County’s 17 early voting locations. More than 10 percent of Broward County voters have cast their ballots at the Southwest Regional Library.

Both counties have been listing estimated wait times on their websites and are encouraging voters to take a look at a sample ballot before arriving.

Early voting locations across the state will be open through Saturday, Nov. 3. State lawmakers shortened the number of days voters can vote early from 14 to eight this year.

More than 500,000 voters cast ballots across the state during the first two days of early voting. Another 1.4 million have submitted absentee ballots ahead of the Nov 6 election. The last day to request an absentee ballot is Wednesday.
