Red Bull Flugtag returns to South Florida on Saturday

Teams build human-powered flying machines

MIAMI – The Red Bull Flugtag is about to kick off in Bayfront Park downtown Miami, where teams build flying machines and launch them off a 30-foot high ramp to see who can soar father.

"We have a three layer cake. It's aerodynamic," said James Goll.

Goll and his team from Tobacco Road spent 200 hours building their cake craft with a 26-foot wing span. They will compete against 30 other teams and be judged on distance, creativity and showmanship.

Local 10's Ben Kennedy took the plunge in a DJ booth inspired craft, flew a couple feet, and hit the water face first.
