Multiple injuries were reported from a massive fire that burned Tuesday night in an upscale shopping district in Kansas City, The Associated Press reported.
A suspected gas explosion sparked the blaze, which engulfed an entire block at the Country Club Plaza, the wire service reported.
Television video showed dozens of firefighters battling flames through heavy smoke with massive amounts of debris, AP said.
Police spokeswoman Rhonda Flores told the AP that it appeared that a car crashed into a gas main. She said an initial call for three ambulances had been increased to 10, the wire service said.
She told the AP that she had not heard of any reported fatalities.
The shopping area was established in 1922 and includes retail, restaurants, apartments and offices, the AP reported.
